Why does Max Barry make evident that businesses should not have power? I feel that after getting almost all the way through this story that this is like a utopia for the business world. It seems that everything evolves around it. For example, the names of all the characters..hmm all their last names are the business that they work for. Also, in the beginning when Hack was told to sign a contract that has the power to make him to whatever they want; the company or even enforcements can not over ride the contract. I feel that the novel, "Jennifer Government," is showing that we need democracy to be able to live in harmony, businesses and other countries alike. This story effectively shows that if we, the United States, continue to make contracts, and business our number one priority there will be soon no right and wrong; there will only be what is just for the corporation. Max Barry showed a great example of this by all the disputes between the different businesses, and even to the people as well. Like, when those fourteen people were killed. Also, when Violet had to get into the enemy business building and fry their system. The message is clear, keep a strong government because it is what keeps things "right," and controlled.
What happened to Jennifer Government that made her hate John Nike and business in general? I finnally made the conclusion that Jen and John had Kate but i feel as if there is a totally other story to what accually happened for her to have such a hatred against him. I mean, it is pretty evident in the story that she really wants him put away. I feel that Jen was betrayed by her company, that John somehow took her place or maybe his plot all along was to get her pregnant and take over her sucess in the business world. When she went to L.A. and saw that man she knew, he seemed over joyed to see her and it also came off that she was well liked. That was why I questioned her motives of leaving. I mean she has a tattoo of a bar code on her face; she must have loved her work and was forced out of it.
Why is Violet so nieve to almost everything she does? Violet is very different! She is a really smart hacker and she has a mean throwing arm enough to put a man in a coma. Even though she does all these things I just can't stop thinking that she just asks to be pushed around by the way she lets people push her around. When she said yes to the dangerous job for Exxonmobile, she knew what she was getting into, why did she do it? Also, even in the beginning Hack had mentioned that Violet and him did not get along; that they weren't great together. How could she be that stupid to think that they were good and in love when they were obviously wouldn't even talk. I don't get why she was just so shocked when she found her sister Claire and Hack in the shower together. She was the one who told him she didn't want to see him anymore. Maybe Violet, like her work, is confusing and misread. No one can understand or even translate her movities. She just never knows what to do or who to trust.
Who will be the hero in the end? There are various characters in the story that have potential hero qualities; but i think Jen and Buy will most likely be the hereos in the end. I feel this way beacause Jen is self motivated to get John Nike and all she wants is for the government to have respect and win power over the consumerism; she is also the title of the book which gives it away to me:) Buy, I think, will be the hero by going to go rescue Kate from the evil John Nike and live happily ever after as a family and get a dog; just like Kate had wanted.
What is Billy NRA up to? He is just all over the place. He faced death over four times and he still seems to be running into problems. His journey all started out with him getting fired and wanted to go skiing. How did he get from there to being in trouble with the NRA and the government. He has on his own heroes journey. But, I am confused at the fact that Billy is just randomly good at shooting and how he just got caught up in all of this mess. I feel that at the end Billy will become one of the main heroes in the story. Maybe he will help Jennifer and Buy save Kate.
